Disable the Windows 7 Firewall
Windows Firewall is a program that ensures the security of a computer connected to a network. It controls incoming and outgoing connections, making work on the Internet and local network more secure. But there are times when it needs to be disabled. How to disable windows firewall?
A firewall is also called a firewall, firewall, or firewall. The word Brandmauer in German and the word firewall in English mean the deaf fire wall of a building. It is made of fireproof material and does not allow the fire to spread to neighboring buildings.
This name quite accurately describes the essence of the program. The firewall is designed to provide network security by controlling both computer access to the local network and the Internet, and access to the computer from the outside. Like a blank wall, it protects a computer from external network threats and prevents it from becoming a threat to other computers on the network.
Windows Firewall is not an alternative to antivirus. These two programs usually work in conjunction. Although some manufacturers of anti-virus software release “2 in 1”, combining the functions of a firewall and antivirus. Often such solutions are called Internet Security, Smart Security or something similar.
But sometimes it happens that the user has to disable Windows Firewall that comes bundled with the operating system. The reasons for this may be very different. In what cases you may need to disable the firewall?
the user decided to install a third-party firewall: if the computer has two firewalls, one must be disabled, otherwise they will conflict;
Windows Firewall is configured incorrectly and makes it difficult to work (for example, it does not allow you to go online);
a weak “stuffing” of the computer or a low Internet connection speed does not allow to work normally, and the firewall slows down even more.
How to disable Windows 7 Firewall?
We will talk about disabling the firewall on the example of Windows 7, because the firewall in Windows XP is disabled by default due to compatibility issues, and the Windows Vista operating system is, firstly, less common, and secondly, in many respects similar to Windows 7.
So, to disable the Windows 7 firewall, first of all we need to go to the Control Panel (Start – Control Panel). When the Control Panel opens, select the Windows Firewall section in the window. On the left side of the window that opens, there will be a menu. You need to select the option Enable or disable Windows Firewall.
A window will open listing the types of network you are using (usually this is a private home and work network and a public network, that is, the Internet). You need to separately disable the firewall for each type of network by selecting the Disable Windows Firewall option. Then click OK to save the changes.
But to completely disable the firewall, you need to do one more important thing – disable the corresponding service. To do this, click on the Start button, enter services.msc in the search bar and press the Enter button. In the right part of the window that opens, you need to find the line Windows Firewall and double-click on it with the left mouse button. Another window will open. In it, go to the General tab, click the Stop button, select the Disable option in the Startup type drop-down list and click OK.
Then you need to remove the service from autorun. To do this, click Start, type msconfig in the search term and press Enter. In the window that opens, go to the Services tab and uncheck the checkbox next to Windows Firewall. Click OK. If you skip this step, the firewall will start every time you start the system. When you close the system configuration window, you will be prompted to restart the computer, but you can select the Exit without restart option.
To re-enable the firewall, you must first disable and remove all other firewalls, and then do all the previous steps in this order: start the service, enable the firewall, set the service to autorun.
